Gentle Flow
2025 harvest. Kun Lu Shan, Ning'er county — the old imperial tribute garden
Thirty-one kilometres north of the old city of Pu'er, on the southern tail of the Wuliang range, across a band running from roughly 1,400 to 2,200 m. The garden is unusual in that the tea grows among the houses rather than outside the village, and the cultivated trees run straight into wild forest without a boundary. It was the Qing court's first choice for tribute tea.
Gentle is the right word: floral honey, fresh greenery, orchard fruit, almost no rough edges, with the dense mouthfeel the region is known for. Easy to drink young, and still holding structure for age
